How old were you when you began learning your musical instrument?

I first picked up the guitar when I was 10 years old.  I soon started to play it every day and I still do! Playing inspired me to write my first song when I was 11.  I felt I could express myself through my guitar and it gave me confidence.

What is your favourite part of your job?
Being able to inspire a pupil and hear them play or sing a piece of music they couldn’t previously perform.  I enjoy seeing a pupil progress, achieve grades and develop confidence in their ability.

Do you get nervous when performing?
After all the performances I have done I still get nervous before that first note.  I think a bit of nerves is okay, it’s a sign that you care about the quality of your performance.  Once I start performing my nerves soon settle.
