Nicola Watson - Woodwind & Piano Teacher

Nicola discovered her love of music aged 7 when she began playing the cornet and trumpet with the South Derbyshire Music Centre. As she progressed, she discovered a passion for woodwind, and began playing the Saxophone and flute.

Nicola found that this was where her true love of music lay, and she progressed rapidly, obtaining Grade 8 qualifications in Alto Saxophone and Flute.

She went on to study music at the University of Huddersfield where she focussed on the Saxophone under the guidance of Sarah Markham (Yamaha). Whilst at The University of Huddersfield, she was a member of its acclaimed Symphonic Wind Orchestra, under the direction of Phillip McCann. Nicola also played in the university's Big Band under the direction of Sean Miller

Since graduation, Nicola continues to maintain her love and passion for music, and is an active freelance musician with a significant presence in the local Jazz Scene and is a member of the Musicians Union.

Nicola has a passion for music education and her passion for music is infectious. She is able to work with children and adults alike, whether you have any musical background or not, Nicola will be able to get you playing and loving music!
