He recently toured Barcelona with ‘The Little Big Band’ and Holland with the ‘Academy Swing Band’ and has now become more involved in the music theatre pit orchestras. Rory is also a trumpeter for the professional function band ‘The Viva Tones’.

The music theatre and drama work has seen Rory perform lead roles in Boogie Nights, High School Musical and Summer Holiday. After performing ‘Dorothy’ at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival – a different view on the popular musical ‘The Wizard of Oz’- Rory has become an executive director for a proffessional theatre company.

"Who inspired/inspires you?"
Being a massive fan of big band/jazz music, Wayne Bergeron and Maynard Ferguson have been my biggest inspirations after hearing Ferguson play the solo in 'Birdland' and Bergeron's involvement in Gordon Goodwins 'Big Phat Band'

"Do you like scales?"
I used to hate scales, but i suddenly realised how important they are in music and after that actually enjoyed practicing them.

"Which is your favourite instrument and why?"
The trumpet! It can be very loud, it can play high and its cool. Whats not to love?!
