At what age did you begin learning your instrument?
I started learning the clarinet when I was 6 with Mr. Rutherford, a wonderful retired Army band Master. Mr. Rutherford was inspiring and fun to learn with. I then began the piano and later started the saxophone and flute when I was at secondary school.

Where did you study?
I achieved my music diploma's whilst studying with my private instrumental teachers, I then continued to study with the outstanding concert pianist, Clive Matthews.

Who do you currently play for?
With a young family, I only have time to play with the 'VivaTones' function band. I look forward to the time where I can join a symphony orchestra again when time allows!

Please tell us more about your music experiences.
I toured the circuit playing saxophone for a Brenda Lee tribute band and piano for the 'Atlantic Soul' band. I have also played reeds for many shows. 'Just So' the musical has been favourite so far.

Apart from music, what other hobbies do you have?
I love to walk my dog in the woods near our home. I also have a keen interest in sailing.

If you had one piece of advice for music students, what would it be?
Break your practice down into the parts you find tricky and then finish your practice with something you enjoy playing, but mostly, have fun!
